While most ductless heating and cooling system maintenance should be performed by an expert or a certified dealer, there are a few maintenance that every homeowner should be equipped with to ensure maximum efficiency of their units. If you have a ductless system in your home, or you’re planning to install one, here are a few maintenance tips that you can use to keep your system running smoothly for long.
- Ensure That The Filters Are Clean: There is a removable air filter in every indoor evaporator unit. Ensure that the filter is cleaned at least as often as recommended in the owner’s guide. If your family or your pets are sensitive to dust, endeavor to clean the filters more often.
- Ensure That The Condenser Is Clean: First, ensure that your outdoor unit is powered off, and then spray the dust by the use of a garden hose. Try to use average water pressure to prevent any potential damages to the fins. If some of the fins are accidentally bent, bend them back slowly with an alignment comb.
- If you have the necessary skills, you can also check electrical connections for loose connections, overheating problems, and short circuit issues. You can also look out for refrigerant leaks, run capacitors, and drain hose for any blockages.
Remember, before you embark on any ductless heating and cooling system maintenance, turn off each component in your system, including both the indoor and outdoor units. In case of specific problems with your ductless system, check your system’s troubleshooting guide.
